52 Faces: How Laundry Love Fort Worth’s Simple Mission is Changing Lives
At Laundry Love Fort Worth, we believe that clean clothes = dignity. What might seem like a basic need is often out of reach for many individuals and families in our community. As featured in the Fort Worth Report’s “52 Faces of Community” series by Scott Nishimura, our founder, Kelli Graham, saw a deep need and responded with compassion, creativity, and unwavering commitment.
“I couldn’t get it out of my head... You can get help with food, you can get help with rent, utilities. How do you get clean clothes?”
That question sparked what would become Laundry Love Fort Worth, now serving thousands of community members each year by providing free laundry services, clean clothes, and a welcoming space filled with dignity and human connection.
From One Idea to Community Impact
What started seven years ago with a simple conversation between Kelli and a friend, a Fort Worth ISD teacher who shared the story of a student bullied for wearing the same clothes to school, has grown into something powerful. Today, Laundry Love Fort Worth holds monthly events at partner laundromats, Turbo Laundry and Loyal Laundry, where volunteers help neighbors in need wash and dry their clothes at no cost.
A Space for Community and Compassion
Laundry Love events are more than just clean clothes. Thanks to dedicated volunteers, clients are greeted with snacks, activities for children, and warm fellowship. Many families attend regularly, forming friendships and feeling known by name, exactly the kind of nurturing environment that restores dignity and self-worth.
